Sure, this guy is inexpensive, but he could really use some customer service skills. I recently dropped off an item for a very minor sewing job that would've taken me about a minute if I had a sewing machine. When I walked in, he barely acknowledged me. No smile, no greeting. After I stood there for a minute, he finally asked me what I needed. I showed him and he said it would be 10 minutes.

I had a lot of errands to do, so I said I'd be back in a couple of hours to pick it up. When I arrived, two hours later, my garment wasn't done. In fact, it was still at the bottom of the basket of the clothes he was working on. I was annoyed, as I had groceries in the car, which included frozen items that needed to get in the freezer ASAP. I said, "Oh, I thought you would have had this done." No apology. He just said, "It will be just a minute." He proceeds to finish another job, which took about a minute. Then he goes over to the basket and starts rummaging around for my garment. All the while I'm thinking, "My frozen stuff in the car is melting." Then he goes to another sewing machine, winds the thread and finally sews it.

I ask him how much I owe him. He curtly says, "Five dollars." I pay and there was no thank you.

This whole process took only about five minutes, and the job he did was fine, but my advice to this gentlemen is this: (1) When you tell a customer you'll have the item ready, have it ready. If it's not ready due to some unforeseen reason, apologize and do it immediately. (2) ALWAYS treat your customers with courtesy and respect, even if you're having a bad day. We are paying you money for a service, and part of that service is showing appreciation for your customers, letting them know that you welcome them and their business.

Sorry, but I won't be back.
